I'm overwhelmed

Okay this is what my stamp room is looking like. How in the world do I get anything accomplished in there? I've started unpacking boxes, but I'm just sort of putting it into piles and that's not working. I stopped and put together some of the shelves, but then don't have enough floor space to put them where I want them. My husband says to bring everything in to the living room and then start unpacking and putting away one box at a time. Well I really don't want to lug all those boxes 2 more times. I don't know. I'm ready to close the door and forget about it, except the door probably won't close because something is in front of it. Maybe later it won't look so bad. I was going pretty good and then my sister and I went to what was a stamping garage sale. Only spent $2, but then had to go have lunch and run to Michael's and now I've lost my umph!

Happy Birthday to me!!

Today is my 40 something birthday. I've spent most of the day shopping with my sister. I wanted a new couch for the new house, so we went and found that and mattresses for the guest room. We also checked out the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. I found a wooden desk for my stamp room at one, and then a couple other great finds at the other. One is a wooden cassette holder that hangs on the wall that my ink pads will fit in to. The other is probably for VCR tapes, it's two sided with shelves on each side. It spins around. I'm thinking my Stampin UP sets will fit in it nicely. Tonight we're going out for pizza with my sister and family.

Tomorrow it will be back to work unpacking the stamp room. I'm really hoping I can make some progress in there tomorrow. I didn't get much done yesterday and sort of blew off today. So we'll see how it goes.
The card is one I did for a shoebox party in Champaign last year. Since I haven't gotten into my stamp room I had to use an old one:(
Later gator.

The journey begins

This is my very first post on my very new blog. We just moved last week from Kansas to Northern Illinois. We are originally from Champaign, IL, but have lived in Kansas for the last 6 years. We've been wanting to get back closer to home ever since we moved and it's finally happened. It was a good time for the move since Steven, my youngest, just graduated from High School.

I've been stamping for about 11 years. I was introduced to it by a co-work in the Champaign school district. I went to her house, was shown how to emboss, and millions of dollars later, here I am. I like to try different techniques, don't really have a style other than whatever works at the time! I belonged to a stamping club in Kansas, which I'm going to miss greatly. I also took almost weekly classes from a stamp store in Lees Summit, MO called the Stamp Patch. Dona is a great teacher and classes were very reasonable.

I stamp with a group of women in the Champaign area several times a year. We've called ourselfs the "Marathon Stampers." My best friend is also a stamper, so we take periodic shopping trips too. We love to go to conventions and actually have two coming up in June. One is in Collinsville (southern Illinois) and the other is in Rockford (northern Illinois).

Once my stamp room is unpacked I'll get busy making some cards and posting some of my work. It's been over a week now since my stamp room was completely packed up and I'm getting antsy. Maybe if I'd spend more time unpacking boxes than sitting at the computer it would get done quicker!

That's all for now.
